Patient update Covid-19

After weeks of lockdown and remote consultations for our patients, we are very pleased to once again to be able offer face to face consultations for our patients where appropriate. Needless to say we will continue to put patient safety first, use appropriate social distancing measures, and also provide telehealth (remote consultations).

For any specific questions on how the service is running please give us a call on 0333 772 0768 or drop us a line info@manchesterurology.org.uk  #StaySafe

So, you’ve come to see us to consider sterilisation. There are lots of options for sterilisation for the man or the woman, but I’m going to focus on the man. Now an excellent form of contraception in this circumstance is a vasectomy. A vasectomy is a procedure that involves removing part of the tube called the Vas that carries sperm from the testis to the outside. It is a straightforward procedure that can be done under local anaesthetic by numbing the area or under a general anaesthetic when you are fast asleep. Through a small incision in the scrotum we can remove the section of vas, but we can also do a scalpel-less technique where there is no incision in the scrotum at all. Both of these techniques can be discussed by one of our expert fertility consultants.
