For the First time In Britain a Manchester Urology Consultant Performs a Radical Prostatectomy For Prostate Cancer Using a Hand Held Robot.

Today Neil Oakley, one of the Manchester Urology Consultants, performed the first radical prostatectomy using a hand-held robot in Britain.

The robotic device allows surgeons to combine the touch and feel of traditional surgery with the greater accuracy and dexterity of articulating instruments.

Neil Oakley said “Our team is very excited about this latest technology and it’s an honour to be the first in Britain to carry out a prostatectomy using this device”.
